Kelly Kreye Leaves for New Mexico for 6 weeks

13 07 2010

Kelly Kreye has been cast as Brighella in The Love of Three Oranges, by Hillary Depiano. This show is being produced as part of the Santa Fe Theater Festival and will be playing Thursdays through Sundays at The Armory For The Arts from August 12th to the 22nd.

The Love of Three Oranges

Directed by Rima Miller.

From the dusty annals of theatre history and the rich traditions of commedia dell’arte comes a brand new version of a classic story “mostly about oranges … and happiness … and a little about love.” It is a raucous, slapstick comedy completely reworked, revised and retooled for today’s audience. A comic’s and costume designer’s dream!

We are sad that Kelly won’t be with us but are excited that he has this opportunity. Come see his last show for 6 weeks this Wednesday at Megawatt! FACEBOOK INVITE

You can also help bring theater to the kids and communities of Santa Fe by donating to the Santa Fe Theater Festival.  Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated.

Our last Megawatt show took place in the country side. Irish peasants were making boxes for the local Magistrate in a wood shop (where everything was incredibly dangerous). There were to be consequences for not filling the box order in time. Seeing what they must do the Irish peasants (Christian Paluck, Dave Maulbeck and Jana Schmieding) had to team up to kill the Magistrate (Chris Camp).

One of our loyal fans made an artistic representation of the event. Thanks Greg!

Don’t forget we have a show TOMORROW at 9pm. We can’t wait to see you!

Thanks again to Beth Stevenson for taking some great photos from our show this past week. This was the show where things started off on a overly enthusiastic spring break road trip and ended up with extreme paranoia.

Why Chet Loves The Imposters

9 06 2010

8 Reasons we like to have Megawatt shows with The Imposters:

1.) They have superman on their team.

2.) Michael McFarland believes that by playing together, we are having a cagematch.

3.) The Imposters also have a public school teacher on their team, which means that most of them can probably read.

4.) Elizabeth Findlay. ‘Nuff said.

5.) The Imposters may be as emotionally disturbed as Chet Watkins.

6.) They sometimes host an ice cream social after their shows (hint hint).

7.) They address complex social issues in their shows such as puberty, hunchback awareness and embarrassing political moments.

8.) The Imposters are great in bed.

See The Imposters perform tonight with Chet Watkins in MEGAWATT.
