11PM Magnet Inspirado – The Magnet Theater’s long form improv comedy competition. Chet Watkins goes up against 5x champions BRICK. Brick must lose, Brick WILL lose.
This Friday, June 10th a random audience member has the opportunity to go on a first date with all of the members of the hit NYC Improv Comedy group, Chet Watkins. All audience members will receive a free beer, also we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to Brooklyn Star restaurant.

This week we are kicking off Audience Appreciation Month in style. We will have free beers, prizes, a 50/50 draw. Aaaaaand!! You, our amazing audience, will pick the two forms we will perform. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces!
We are mere days from our Friday night (10PM) performance at the 2011 Chicago Improv Festival at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N Southport Ave (at Oakdale Ave) and we couldn’t be more excited! TimeOut Chicago had some nice things to say about us after seeing our CIF showcase show earlier in the month…
“These long-form practitioners have a secret weapon: fearless women. The men aren’t half bad either (especially the woolly and magnificent Christian Paluck), but I marveled at how the ladies (including former Second City e.t.c. ensemble member Laura Grey) tackled each scene with bawdy abandon. Based on the suggestion of popcorn, this sextet gave us a travel agent with a dial-up computer (hilarious), a couple shopping for gourmet meats and a finale that brought back characters from previous scenes. All in all, impressive.” -TOC
Tell your Chicago area friends to check us out, spread the word. The amazing slow comedy group, Jake, will be opening for us. If you are a New Yorker, don’t fret. Laura Grey & Lizzie Redner are staying behind to present a completely original improvised show during our new timeslot: 9PM at the Magnet. They will be reading from their Teenage Diaries and improvising off of it. Special Guests are expected! It doesn’t matter where you live this weekend, we all win!
The results from our Brooklyn competition show have been tabulated and it looks like Chet Watkins came out on top. Cash Test Dummies organizer Adam Hayes reports…

The next Cash Test show takes place at The Brick Theater on April 27th. Chet Watkins will not be performing at this show but we will eagerly be awaiting the results to see who we go against in the Quarterfinals!

Starting Friday April 29th our show time will move from 8pm to 9pm every week! That gives you an extra hour to get some dinner or head to the bar before taking in a heap of fresh Chet Watkins comedy. A great way to start the weekend!
